TWS’ “Sparkling Blue” album review
What sets apart TWS and their debut album from the rest of the industry is the whole new music genre the group has created, called “Boyhood Pop,” which is derived from the bright and refreshing vibes of the band.
Through “Sparkling Blue,” TWS channels their enthusiastic and youthful rapport to explore the confluence of emotions found during first-time experiences, while also adopting a new approach to music that is honest and candid.
Here’s a song-by-song breakdown of each track on the album, which tells about how TWS includes the “Boyhood Pop” genre in the songs.
Plot Twist: The highlight of the mini album is the first track of the album “Plot Twist,” which also features a music video (more on that later). The song talks about the heart-fluttering and the other plethora of feelings that ensue during a first encounter.
Unplugged Boy: Another noteworthy track is Unplugged Boy, the second track of the album which is inspired by Cheon Kye Young, a legendary comic artist from the 1990s. the track borrows its title from a comic of the same name penned by Cheon, which explores themes such as comedy and romance.
The lyrics of the track artfully capture the desire to break the shackles of your past and embrace a new journey geared towards happiness and growth.
First Hooky: The song features lyrics that capture the thrilling and pounding sensation feelings one breaks free from one monotone life and goes through new experiences. “First Hooky” is accentuated by the ever-present undertone that urges the listener to embrace their individuality.
BFF: Remaining true to its name, “BFF” celebrates friendship and firmly establishes the need to stand beside your friends. In its entirety, the track talks about the power of friendship and encourages the listener to not take their friends for granted.
“Plot Twist” Music video
Featuring the backdrop of a high school, the MV of “Plot Twist” is rife with the band’s youthful energy and vocals. The music video of the track is a documentary of sorts, which celebrates the bandmates’ friendship and how it’ll surpass any obstruction to their band.
Capturing the vibrancy and carelessness of boyhood, the video integrates a playful choreography that is remindful of the overall vibe of the album.
